Very good questions.
I'll try to explain:
1. UV mapping, this was not finished on time, the tool it will keep UV maps soon.
2. Everything touched or modified is converted to NURBS. Yes you need to freeze it afterwards separately.
Reason is to keep the tool as simple as possible.
3. Round corners was not not designed to use on 3D objects. But I will add a corner patching also for this tool.
